Growing mushrooms is a beautiful and transformative process. I was first introduced to the idea of cultivating mushrooms in an ecological design class. We inoculated straw with oyster spawn and within weeks the mycelia matrix expanded throughout my own mushroom bag, and a few weeks later there were full size mushrooms growing out of the plastic bag I was keeping in my closet! I took my interest for mushrooms and flew to Eugene, Oregon to attend a 5-day immersive mushroom cultivation design course. Upon returning home, I took the first step in mushroom cultivation and designed a small grow room and a sterile glovebox where I could inoculate my spawn jars. I had officially entered the wondrous world of mycology and there has been no way out. I continue to expand my mushroom knowledge, and am constantly experimenting and upgrading my cultivation techniques.
